Neural Therapy
Neural therapy is one of the most advanced and effective of all holistic modalities. Neural therapy is the injection of local anesthetics such as novocaine into areas with disturbed neuro-vegetative repolarization function. These areas are called "interference fields."
How Are Interference Fields Formed?
Life is dependent not only on matter, but also on energy. Every cell is a tiny sodium-potassium battery with a voltage of 40-90 milli-volts across it's membrane. This voltage potential collapses with every stimulus, a phenomenon referred to as depolarization. Following depolarization, a normally functioning cell will immediately recharge it's membrane through the process of repolarization. The required energy for this mechanism is generated by the cell internal oxygen metabolism.
After exceedingly strong or too many accumulative stimuli of a chemical, physical or traumatic nature, the cell is not able to repolarize spontaneously as it should. A permanently or even partially depolarized cell is not only unable to function, but also often transmits interfering stimuli with its abnormal rhythmic discharges. When this second phenomenon occurs, the area becomes an interference field. Interference fields can exert a remarkably strong effect on the body, and will often interfere with the body's healing capabilities. Many diseases and pain disorders cannot be cured until these interference fields are treated. When local anesthetics such as novocaine (also called procaine) are injected into the interference field, they stimulate the cells to repolarize, and to stabilize the defective cell membrane potential. Although the initial injection only results in a temporary improvement, a series of subsequent injections will actually result in a permanent correction by normalizing the cell's ability to recharge and maintain the necessary membrane potential.
Conditions Treated With Neural Therapy
We now know that ANY chronic disorder may be due to one or more interference fields. The following conditions usually respond nicely to neural therapy: allergies, headache, vertigo, hay fever, sinusitis, whiplash syndrome, painful scars, liver, colitis, menstrual pain, endometriosis, joint and muscular rheumatism, arthritis, all forms of neuralgia, restless leg syndrome, TMJ syndrome, and facial and jaw pain. Many people have difficulty in accepting that a single therapy is capable of offering relief in such a large number of disorders, but it should be remembered that it is not the therapy itself that creates healing. Neural therapy simply removes one of the major impediments to the body's innate homeostatic mechanism, thus allowing it to restore itself to health.
History of Neural Therapy
Neural Therapy has been widely used in Europe and South America since the 1940's, and was introduced into North America about 20 years ago. Originating in Germany, neural therapy initially focuses exclusively on the injection of local anesthetics into nerve sites, acupuncture points, scars and other tissues to relieve pain. The treatment then evolved into one that can be used as a part of the holistic management of many other conditions.
In summary, any chronic ailment may be due to an interference field. Any part of the body may become an interference field. Any disorder due to an interference field may be cured by the elimination of the interference field, i.e. by the injection into the interference field of procaine.
